ANCHORLIGHT WILMINGTON

Anchorlight Wilmington was a short-term artistic activation of space in downtown Wilmington that sought to contribute to the vibrant arts community through exhibitions, residency opportunities and community programming. Located at 1 S. Front St., the project was active November 2018-December 2019. Instead of leaving the space empty during this time while renovations were planned, developer James Goodnight partnered with regional artists to provide unique opportunities that engage the community on universal themes through the making and exhibition of art.

SOUTHEAST RALEIGH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT EXHIBITION

Anghorlight and Southeast Raleigh High School Art Club have partnered to create a mentorship program between Anchorlight artists and Art Club students with exhibition opportunities at the Anchorlight gallery. In 2018 students curated and produced the exhibition, Generation Z, about current issues that affect the students’ daily lives. In 2019 artists in the Brightwork Fellowship program attended weekly Art Club meetings as mentors. Together, they produced the exhibition, Duality, which was moved online due to Covid-19 restrictions. In 2021 we are excited to present the latest online exhibition, Dreams.
